A sculptural symbol of re-use.
Teaming up with Amsterdam-based architecture studio (and our office partner) Studioninedots, we developed a new series of WasteBasedBricks® in which selected demolition waste is upcycled into high-quality building materials.
With these bricks, we were able to repurpose a total of over 152 tonnes of building waste in the design for 360 Degrees.
The challenge of the facade effect, which gradually transitions from dark to light, was mainly in the search for pure white, pure black and different shades of grey construction waste to achieve the right mix of colours.
Inside the building, some of the stones have been used in a sawn version, literally making the demolition waste visible.
