In the Netherlands, CBRE has offices in Amsterdam, The Hague, Eindhoven, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Zwolle and at Schiphol Airport.
On Monday the 25th of February 2019, CBRE officially opened their innovative new office building in the Schinkel area in Amsterdam.
Housed in a fifty-year-old former Peugeot garage building, CBRE transformed their headquarters (THE CORE) into a sustainable, healthy office which will pioneer the latest trends and developments in the world of real estate.
Retaining the character of the building was a priority. The design is open, and the internal design of the new office promotes and facilitates collaboration and gives entrepreneurship ample space to flourish.
Employees (and visitors) are first welcomed in The Cafe, a hospitality space that doubles as an informal work and meeting area. Here, StoneCycling’s Blackpepper WasteBasedBricks® are used.
The café shifts into the Workshop, which the company describes as ‘a hotbed of teamwork’. The Client Lab beyond is an area for co-creation with clients, while the upstairs Library is the quiet zone.
CBRE has its own in-house team of sustainability advisers, with expertise in such areas as BREEAM, LEED and WELL.
The research into the ‘Healthy Offices’ by the University of Twente and CBRE confirms the relationship between people’s working environment and their personal health, well-being and performance. Insights from this research have been applied in THE CORE.
The aim of CBRE is to achieve the highest possible WELL certification: WELL Platinum. They focus on seven factors which contribute to a healthy and sustainable working environment: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and the mind.
CBRE also entered into a partnership with Madaster – an initiative to eliminate waste by giving materials an identity. The CORE has been issued a passport in which all its construction materials are documented. If they ever leave the building, these can be reused or recycled. In this way, CBRE is putting their circular ambition further into practice.
The way we work is changing. We now work more frequently and more intensively with clients, while modern communications technology means that we are no longer confined to a single location. At the same time, new developments are required to comply with a rising number of standards and regulations. As a result, housing is also becoming more complex. Time for a new chapter.
