Waste Based Glazed Brick at Dutch Design Week

StoneCycling & Studio Mixtura let facades and interior walls shine with new glazes made from waste.

Studio Mixtura started a new collaboration with StoneCycling this year to develop a new range of glazes from waste that can be applied to facades and interior walls.

The results can be seen at Dutch Design Week, from 16 to 24 October 2021 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

A sneak peek of the new WasteBasedGlazedBricks

Meet the WasteBasedGlazedBrick

The new glazes are applied to our existing WasteBasedBricks® and WasteBasedSlips®, which can be used both as facade and interior wall cladding.

To move from our current linear economy to a circular economy, it is essential to show that waste is a fully-fledged raw material of the future, both technically and aesthetically. The WasteBasedGlaze project does just this.

Waste = Raw Material

In collaboration with ABO Global, we use metallurgical by-products that usually have very limited reuse. Millions of tons of this material are released every year worldwide.

With these aesthetic and colourful glazes, we show the potential value of these types of waste streams. With these glazes from waste, which are used as a finish for our existing waste building materials, we are taking another step in our mission: beautiful building materials, made from 100% waste with a positive impact on the planet.

Project “WasteBasedGlazedBrick” is supported by Stimuleringsfonds.
